On January 27, 2021, SAMHSA Regions VII and VIII, in partnership with regional USDA staff, held a virtual Food and Mood Town Hall, during which there was a discussion of the intersection between behavioral health and food/food insecurity/school gardens in the K-12 population. Presenters include: Valerie Kolick, Special Assistant to the Director of the Office of Intergovernmental and External Affairs, SAMHSA; Caitlin Merlo, Health Scientist, Centers for Disease Control; Malissa Martin, President and CEO of Communities in Schools of Mid-America; and, Andrea Alma, USDA Farm to School Regional Lead for the Mountain Plains Region.
