Monroe County Memories: An Oral History Project presents an interview with John Dennis, recorded May 24, 2022.
In conversation with Dr. Martin Wilson, retired Professor of History at East Stroudsburg University, John Dennis shares stories of growing up in Bossardsville in Hamilton Township and talks about his family's ownership of the Bossardsville Store. He describes what it was like to attend the one-room Center School from grades 1 through 8 and discusses the summer jobs he held at Keiper's Laundry in Stroudsburg, the Bossardsville Quarry, and the East Stroudsburg train station, before embarking on his career as a civil engineer. Mr. Dennis then provides details of some of his local engineering projects with Edward C. Hess and Associates and the work he did as township and borough engineer for many of Monroe County's municipalities.
