32 years after his death, Mohammad Rafi is still considered by many to be the most prolific singer of all time because of his undisputed rule in Bollywood from the 50s to the late 70s. In his four decade long career he was the most precious voice for almost 30 years and yet was always modest and down to earth. He won the Best National Singer Award and six Filmfare Awards. In 1967, he was honoured with the Padma Shri award by the Government of India. His most famous associations in Bollywood was with music directors Naushad and S.D Burman, who were rivals at the time. Rafi gave innumerable hits to the industry and is identified as the voice of hit actors like Dev Anand, Dilip Kumar and Shammi Kapoor.
