In today's show, Saurabh Dwivedi discusses the worsening situation in many states due to rising COVID cases. Today, PM Modi held a video conference with Chief Ministers of 8 states that witnessing the highest Corona cases. PM discussed with CMs measures to control the pandemic and about the vaccine. PM did not mention any time period for the vaccine but asked the states to plan the distribution. Interacting with chief ministers, Modi also cautioned states and union territories against any laxity in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic and called for reducing the positivity rate to at least 5 percent by focusing on curbing the virus transmission. Meanwhile, Oxford-AstraZeneca announced that interim trial data from the crucial phase 3 trials have shown that its Covid-19 vaccine is 70% effective. Serum Institute of India CEO Adar Poonawala hinted that it would ask for emergency approval of the Covishield vaccine next month.
