Her mother having died in childbirth, her father, Gustav, tries to protect the little girl as best he can: he does not let her leave their home in order to shield her from the gaze of others.
Eva grows up like this, surrounded by the love of her father and nanny, but ends up feeling oppressed in this confined space.
Aspiring to discover the outside world, the determined teenager, who has developed a gift for mathematics, will then face others and the hurtful reactions that her appearance could provoke.
