In this video, Dr Sue Whatman shares her PhD journey of making use of Bernstein’s concepts while investigating health and physical education curriculum for Indigenous girls in Australia.
In particular, she talks about the power and control relations operating within schools, which can be understood through the analytic tools of classification and framing, and the possibilities for interrupting social inequity through the redesign of school curriculum and pedagogy.
