A 17edo tone poem for Medea, the mythical Princess of Colchis and granddaughter of the sun god Helios. This piece is played on an old Story & Clark baby grand, tuned to a subset of the 17edo circle of fifths, namely Cb-E. The piano is a bit out of tune with respect to 17edo though, because tuning pins keep slipping and because I'm not a professional tuner.
Some large chunks of the piece use a heptatonic scale A Bd C D E Ft G A, which is a good approximation to the notes contained in maqam bayati. It'd be inaccurate to say that the piece is in maqam bayati however since I don't use any maqam-based gestures (and also because a good chunk of the piece is in the phrygian mode).
The title is an homage to the final boss music of Octopath Traveler (Daughter of the Dark God). The character appearing in the thumbnail and the background of the score is a commissioned drawing of Medea by ppeachi, whose Twitter can be found here:
