Marcos Praveen Teotia Shaurya Chakra awardee for heroic action in saving lives at Taj Mahal Hotel during 26/11 Mumbai attack. During the Anti-terror operation was hit by 4 bullets in the chest and ear leading to permanent damage to the lungs and hearing loss.
Operation Black Tornado
Participated in Operation Black Tornado (Mumbai attack 26/11), the biggest terrorist attack in Indian history. Was part of the First Responder team of MARCOS that arrived at Taj Mahal Hotel in the early hours of 27 November 2008 as a points-man (the one leading the team of four). MARCOS saved more than 150 people and recovered a terrorist’s rucksack, containing more than 500 AK’s round 08 magazine, 08 hand grenades, huge stores of dry fruits used as nourishment, Indian currency and debit/credit cards in that operation.
Accomplishments
● 18 Jan 2015 ran first Standard Charted Mumbai Half Marathon and completed in 1 hour and 53 min
● 17 Jan 2016 ran first Standard Charted Mumbai full Marathon. In this marathon took inspiration from Milind Soman and overtook him despite a hamstring pull, finishing the run in 4hrs 36min.
● May 2016 successfully trekked the height of 12000 ft (Shyari Top) in Uttarkashi by Tata steel adventure foundation.
● 13 Nov 2016 finished First Navy half marathon in 1 hour 40 min.
● 11 Dec 2016 finished Vasai-Virar full marathon in 3 hours 58 min.
● 15 Jan 2017 my second Standard Chartered Mumbai full Marathon and completed in
3:47 min
● 12 Feb 2017 my first Olympic Triathlon in Goa completed in 3 hrs 09 min.
● 19 Mar 2017 my first Half Ironman at Jaipur finished in 6 hrs 46 min and stood third.
● 25 Jun 2017 Tarblazer half marathon Mumbai finished in 1 hrs 53 min.
● 20 Aug 2017 IDBI Mumbai half marathon finished 1 hrs 58 min.
● 09 Sep 2017 Khardung La Challenge 72 Km World’s Highest Ultra Marathon at Leh finished in 12 hrs 42 min.
● 29 Oct 2017 Customs half marathon Mumbai finished in 1 hrs 48 min.
● 19 Nov 2017 WNC navy half marathon finished in 1 hrs 44 min.
● 11 Dec 2017 Super Sikh run half marathon finished in 1 hrs 40 min.
● 21 Jan 2018 Tata Mumbai marathon 42.2 km finished in 3 hrs 55 min.
● 11 Feb 2017 second Olympic triathlon at Goa finished in 3 hrs 19 min.
● 25 Feb 2018 IDBI New Delhi marathon 42.2 km finished in 4 hrs 08 min.
● 24 Mar 2018 finished my first 5 km long swim in Goa finished in 2 hrs 17 min.
● 15 Apr 2018 Port Elizabeth (South Africa), I created history and finished the world toughest physical event in 14 hrs 19 min and become first Disabled and First Ironman of Indian Armed Forces of India.
Injured in the fierce gunfight during room clearing operation. Took four shots to the chest. The BPV kept out three bullets, but the last one punctured the lung.
Awarded Shaurya Chakra, India’s third highest gallantry during peace time for bravery during 26/11.
