Lisa classically conditions Bart to fear a cupcake
Classical Conditioning involve learning an involuntary response to what was a neutral stimulus.
In this case the cupcake was originally a neutral stimulus that caused no response .
But by repeatedly pairing this NS (the cupcake) with the UCS (the shock), the cupcake eventually became a Conditioned Stimulus that causes the Conditioned Response of Fear/ trembling/ when Bart sees the Cupcake.
To complete the picture the shock is the UCS that causes the UCR of fear to the cupcake.
This is similar to Pavlov's famous experiment but substitute the cupcake for a bell, the shock for food and the fear response to a salivation response
BART
NS= cupcake
UCS = shock
UCR = fear of shock or trembling because of the shock
CS = cupcake
CR = fear of cupcake or trembling when sees cupcake
PAVLOV's DOG
NS= Bell
UCS = food
UCR = salivation when given food
CS = bell
CR = salivation when hears bell
