Kevin McGivern vinyl record reviews, recommendations & advice.
This is the best record cleaning method I have found
without investing in a machine.
Do not use Elmers wood glue. I recommend Titebond11 wood glue.
Excellent method for restoring a thrift store record.
Recommended for cleaning new records as well.
Yes, removing the glue will cause static electricity.
Remove the glue slowly to minimize the problem.
An anti static brush helps, I utilize a Zerostat gun.
Do not apply too thin a layer of glue,
as it may not peel off in one piece.
And DO NOT peel off in a cold room as the glue might be brittle when dry and leave some pieces behind.
If you have a very large number of records I highly recommend the Gem Dandy record cleaner made by George Merrill.
