ज़िम्मी चरित्र की विशेषताएं - Zimmi (Dhimmi in Arabic) is a special class of people in the Islamic world - those non-believers who pay a survival tax to the Islamic rulers to continue with their life and livelihood without equal rights. Thankful to their oppressors for merely letting them live, this Zimmi character seeps into the societies that live very long under this oppression. This Zimmihood is often seen among a whole range of Indians, specially among those who have Muslim neighbours or who live among Muslim majorities even in a democracy like India. This lulls them into a false sense of empathy. Evidence? Just check the Kashmiri elites before 1989, and Lahore elites of 1947.
