Using Windows XP service pack 2 and getting this bug when trying to generate XML using ITR workbook I must admit that this was a strange bug for i personally didn't face it since i have a service pack 3 for windows XP but few people using service pack 3 also complain of this bug .
One of my subscriber's while trying to fill the return (excel workbook ITR 1 )was getting this message .After analysing the message he got via his send email screenshot and going through his comments , i understood that it was not easy for me to replicate the problem because it seemed to be a operating system issue and in my parent laptop ,it didn't seem a good idea to virtualise (create a seperate system for this version of windows XP),so i virtualised my other laptop and yes the bug did came in service pack 2 ,
.Basically the VB coding done vide modules used to generate the Extended mark up document don't compile properly with versions of windows XP OS lesser than service pack 3 version...so people using windows XP service pack 2 might face this problem ,because when i installed windows XP service pack 2 in one of my 5 laptops , i got the same error ,
Firstly pressing alt +F11 opens up the visual basic editor which shows the module which the developer has coded for the excel workbook to work and generate the XML ,
Since clicking the XML throws up this error , it can be presumed that the OS with which it does has some compatibility issue ,next would be be to download a patch which enhances XML generation across such bugging operating systems ,
So ,being a developer i understood , that the solution then lies in enhancing the XML capacity of the OS and so my search on google for XML enhancing patches for Opreating system XP with service pack 2 started ,
Of the various patches i downloaded , the one shown in the video worked for my case .Across any version of operating system for windows XP(service pack 1/2/3 etc or windows 7, this is tested and works .I say this because r i did virtualisation and checked my 5 laptops for various combinations of operating systems / Office versions and the patch passed off beautifully ,
The links to download this xml enhanced patch directly from microsoft website are as follows ,
For 32 bit version Microsoft office version , you can download the Microsoft Core XML Services 6.0 Service Pack 1 from here ,
(1)
http://download.microsoft.com/downloa...For 64 bit Microsoft office version , you can download this patch file at this location ,
(2)
http://download.microsoft.com/downloa...The parent url for downloading the patch file is
(1)
http://www.microsoft.com/en-in/downlo...Now, run this patch and then whether you run the excel workbook on windows XP or windows 7 or whatver and use whichever version , you should be sorted ..
Like the name of the file suggest's , you should be now able to easily create XML files from the excel workbook ...there is a alternative way to solve this issue as well by going to excel options and doing a few tricks but all that for a later time ,for i have too much to do ,
Hope this helps harmeet ,let me know whether it worked (cause it did in my other laptops where i replicated your Operating system, got the same bug and after installing this , it sorted out the issue ),
Cheers ,
