Sometimes it can be advantageous to separate the art from the artist, the author from the book, and so I discuss some different techniques that you can use to reframe the relationship between the person, the Author, the narrator, and the purpose of the work as a way to consider it.
Plus I discuss some of the ramifications of this for how we discuss books, their content, and what that means in terms of making assumptions about the person.
There is more to this involving authorial intent, reader response, and Death of the Author, but that can be the subject of another video.
